N Tiken receives Biju Patnaik Peace Award

Aks, New Delhi has honoured Nameirakpam Tiken Singh of Progressive Artiste Laboratory (PAL) and four others with Biju Patnaik International Peace Award 2022.In a release, PAL secretary Y Rexyla Devi informed that the award was given to N Tiken on Saturday on the occasion of 106th birth anniversary of Bhumiputra Biju Patnaik held at Triveni Kala Sangam auditorium, Mandi House, New Delhi.
Aks conferred the award to Tiken for his dedication and creative contribution to Manipuri culture, related art form and peace & harmony, it added.
The release further mentioned that the award consisted of memento, shawl and flower pot.
N Tiken Singh, trained in Manipuri folk and traditional music and dance, has been associated with prominent theatre directors from all over the world including B V Karanth, Narayan Panikar, Fritz Benewitz, John Martin, Tim Supple, Roy Lytton and has visited several countries like UK, China, Japan, USA, Italy, Australia, Netherlands and Thailand as music director, dance consultant and musician.
As a dance guru, N Tiken composed several Manipuri dance and produced more than 20 disciples.
He has also directed music for two Manipuri feature films and many documentary films.
He introduced indigenous orchestra which has made him a role model of Manipuri contemporary music.
N Tiken has also been honoured with several other accolades and awards by various organisations and institutions in the past.
