Condolence service of poll violence victim held, OHYSO submits charter of demands

A short condolence service was organised today at Senapati Ground in honour of late K Longvao Paoraih, who was reportedly killed by polling security at 47/49, Ngamju village on March 5, 2022 .
It was attended by 47-Karong AC BJP candidate, Yuh Jonathan Tao; Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS, DC Senapati; social leaders along with friends and relatives of the deceased.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahesh Chaudhari condoled the demise of the young student leader and shared the sorrow of the bereaved family.
The DC prayed to God to let his soul rest in peace and assured to sit together with public leaders.
Former Minister, Benjamin Banee thanked everyone for sharing the grief of the bereaved family and stated that late K Longvao Paoraih was the lone son of their family.

The senior leader also raised questions over the firing of live rounds against civilians without any knowledge from higher authorities.
Benjamin Banee also demanded befitting action against the erring personnel.
Benjamin Tao, ex-ADC member who is also from Ngamju village, expressed gratitude to the medical teams of PHC, Oinam Hill and for the airlift.
He also urged all to pray and support the fight to bring justice to the late student leader.
R Yuh Jonathan Tao expressed his sorrow over the tragic incident and asked on what grounds were the shots fired by the security personnel.
Asahrii Clement, president of Poumai Naga Students Union (PNTM) also condoled the demise of late K Longvao Paoraih and shared the grief of the bereaved family.
It may be mentioned that the mortal remains of late K Longvao Paoraih left Senapati for Ngamju at around 3 pm on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Onaemeto Youth & Students Organization (OHYSO) has also submitted a written charter of demands over the tragic killing of late K Longvao Paoraih to the Returning Officer of 47-Karong (ST) AC.
"Personnel of CISF, 520 Adhoc 341C who were deployed at 47/49 polling station at Ngamju village to oversee and render their services for holding Free and Fair Elections to 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly, 2022 has resorted to point blank firing towards the innocent villagers without any provocation which led to gunning down of 1 person namely, K Longvao, 25 years, s/o T Kah and grievously injuring another person namely, V Shaopae, 25 years, s/o S Vani belonging to Ngamju village", read the charter.
"To their horror, the former breathed his last at PHC, Oinam Hill and the later airlifted to Imphal after having received life saving first aid and currently recuperating at RIMS, Imphal.
Altogether, 4 women namely, L.Shangla, Ng Christy, S Marynah, Kh Marynah and 3 men namely Kh Noah, Z Likeson and L Hopeson were severely gun-butted", it added.
In the charter, Th Solongni Raoh, president of OHYSO and Apollos Pao, secretary of OHYSO also urged the RO to fulfil the charter of demands including arrest and detention of the main accused who had pulled the fatal trigger and initiate Court Martial proceedings against him for committing such inhumane act against the innocent villagers, to compensate monetarily to V Shaopae who is currently undergoing treatment at RIMS and to all the women folks who have been subjected to brutal gun-butting and appoint one of the bereaved family member with job so that whoever has been employed by the Government can take care of the family members more particularly the ageing parents of the deceased.
It may be mentioned that similar copies of the demand were also forwarded to Chief Election Commissioner, Manipur and Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur.
