Imphal, March 06 2022:
Tengnoupal AC INC candidate Wairok Morung Makunga has alleged that the second phase of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election in Tengnoupal AC was held in an unfair manner.
Addressing a press meet at his Mantripukhri residence on Sunday, Wairok Morung Makunga said that the way the election had been held in Tengnoupal constituency was distressing, as most of the polling stations were overwhelmed by powerful political parties.
In other words, the extent of using money and muscle power in the recent polls had never been seen before in the state, he added.
He further said that in many of the polling stations, his polling agents were beaten and driven off, while the polling booth in his home polling station was destroyed.
Many voters were denied the right to vote for their preferred candidates.
The cadres of SoO groups also threatened the voters, he accused, while adding that such acts grossly violated democracy.
Morung Makunga then appealed to the ECI to look into the matter and order a re-poll in the affected polling stations.
