Imphal, March 06 2022:
Artiste Training cum Educational Research Centre (ATEREC) held its 19th annual meeting at Marjing Polo Complex, Heingang in Imphal East district on Sunday.
The meeting was attended by ATEREC president Sobita Soubam, Micro Finance managing director Konjengbam Dileep, ATEREC vice president Sobita Mongjam, Patriotic Writers' Forum president Naoroibam Khamba Luwang and High Court of Manipur advocate Khaidem Sanjoy.
Speaking on the occasion, Sobita Soubam observed that female artistes are able to sing without even learning Hindustani or classical music, in various forms including lullabies, thereby reinforcing the inseparable connection between life and music.
Music is inherent right from birth and it encompasses various aspects of the society.
As such, songwriters, singers and composers need to work together to make more new pieces of music, she added.
In his speech, Konjengbam Dilip highlighted the role music played in the independence struggle of various countries across the globe.
In Manipur's context, Hijam Irabot sang many patriotic songs and also narrated various stories to help Manipur become independent.
Thus, encouraging writers will be highly beneficial to the society, he said, while adding that many writers are often unable to showcase their wonderful thoughts owing to financial burden.
As part of the event, the new members of the Centre were felicitated.
