Abducted mom-child rescued, one arrested

Imphal, March 06 2022:
A mother and her child, who were abducted on the pretext of providing job, have been rescued by a team of Imphal East District Women Police, in addition to bringing the abductor here from Mangaluru (Mangalore) city, Karnataka on Sunday.
The abductor has been identified as Mevada Nileshbhai (24) son of Dudabhai of Moti Virava Nani Virva, Gujarat.
He was arrested from near Taj Residency Falnir in Mangaluru city and brought to Imphal on Sunday.
Nileshbhai was then produced before JMIC Imphal East Court, which remanded him to 6 days in police custody.
According to a police report, a man from Kanglatongbi, presently residing in Imphal East District, filed a complaint to Imphal East District Women Police Station on February 23 stating that his 38-year old wife and their 5-year-old daughter had been abducted by unknown person(s) .
The complaint further stated that both his wife and daughter had been missing since February 21.Based on the complaint, the PS traced the whereabouts of the mother-daughter duo.
On March 2, their mobile phone was tracked to a location in Mangaluru city.
On March 3, a team of the Women PS consisting of OC Inspector G Geetanjali, case IO SI N Memtu Devi, ASI Thangjam Sanjoy Singh and head constable N Santosh Singh travelled to the location and rescued the mother-daughter duo with the help of Mangaluru PS on March 4.The police team also arrested Nileshbhai from near Taj Residency.
Nileshbhai was produced before Mangaluru JMFC-II Court, which then gave the transit warrant.
On Sunday morning, both the rescued duo and the abductor were brought to Imphal, after which he (Nileshbhai) was produced before JMIC Imphal East Court, which remanded him to 6 days in police custody.
The report further conveyed that the abductor had connected with the woman on social media and lured her with promise of offering job.
