Political terrorism, says Bijoy

Imphal, March 06 2022:
The instances of bomb attacks seen at different places in connection with the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election is a clear indication of the rise of 'political terrorism' in the State, asserted BJP Manipur Pradesh former chief spokesman and socio-political commentator Chongtham Bijoy.
Speaking to media persons at his Lamphelpat residence today, Bijoy warned that large scale political violence seen in West Bengal elections would be seen in Manipur too in the next election if the political terrorism unleashed in this election is not controlled promptly and effectively.
Regarding the bomb blast which took place near his residential gate in the evening of March 4, Bijoy opined that the bomb attack was a part of the ugly trend of gagging people/critics seen in the State during the last five years.
"After I was expelled from BJP, I spoke to media persons a couple of times, voiced my thoughts and opinions and took part panel discussion programmes of TV channels.
The bomb attack was carried out at the instigation of a few groups who were enraged by what I said", Bijoy said.
Saying that the bomb which exploded at the gate of the NPP candidate of Khurai AC on February 28 was quite similar to the one which exploded near his gate, Bijoy claimed that the two bombs had the same source.
Informing that the Police Department and the IO have been investigating the case whole-heartedly, Bijoy exuded confidence that the facts and other details of the bomb attack can be established if there is no political pressure.
He claimed that the bomb planters reached Ningthem Pukhri Mapal after passing through Nityaipat Chuthek.
He hoped that the investigating agency would investigate the case thoroughly without any fear.
If the investigation process is obstructed by political influence, people need to stand united to nip this ugly trend, he said.
Bijoy also accused the incumbent BJP leaders of Manipur of undermining the party's core principle and agenda.
He then appealed to all the MLAs who would be elected anew to choose a capable leader dedicated to the cause of
the masses.
