UNLF holds general assembly

The proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF) reportedly conducted its 9th general assembly 2022, which is held after every four years, from February 18 to 22.In a statement, media coordinator of DOP UNLF Th Charairongba informed that the general assembly began with offering of revolutionary salute to cadres of the front, who have sacrificed their lives in the freedom struggle.
Discussions were held on 'National People's Democratic Revolution' in order to carry forward the freedom struggle towards success.
Constitution of the party and general programme were amended while reports of the outgoing central committee were discussed and approved followed by election of a new central committee and chairman.
The newly elected Central Committee members are Kh Pambei (chairman), Ch Thanil (general secretary & publicity in-charge), I Tonsana (secretary of finance), N Nongden (secretary of health & family welfare), Th Sidabamapu (secretary of external & regional affairs), S Nongdol (secretary of organisation) and S Pankhei (secretary of operation & projects).
The 9th Central Committee then appointed MPA's chief of army staff Colonel Ng Pamheiba and vice-chief of army staff Major Th Ningtamba as the leaders of MPA general headquarters, the statement said.
The newly elected chairman and Central Committee members took oath of carrying out the general programmes laid down by the Article 17 of the party's Constitution.
They also took the oath to not sell out the organisation.
The general assembly also unanimously agreed to work towards upholding unity, integrity, towards bringing positive changes in the organisation while keeping in mind the public sentiment, aspirations, global changes and other situations in the surrounding of the party, the statement added.
