Imphal, March 06 2022:
The wilful nature of some extreme elements who are under political patronage is no hidden matter.
If this is not kept in check, political terrorism could emerge as a potential replacement of unwanted violence and fakeencounters, cautioned social political commentator Ch Bijoy.
Addressing a press meet at his Lamphel residence on Sunday, Ch Bijoy maintained that the bomb attack at his residence on Friday evening was part of the 5-year long campaign to silence the voices of reason.
After he was expelled from BJP, he vocalised his views through media and as such, there is no other logical reason to explain the blast other than it was the acts of some dissatisfied groups.
He continued that the attack was similar in nature to the attack carried out at the residential gate of Khurai NPP candidate Jayananda on February 24, considering that sources of both the attacks seem to be same.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the attack at his Lamphel residence, he said, while adding that the police are investigation into the incident.
Bijoy then said: "The attack could be considered as the first stage of political terrorism.
If it is not taken into control, Manipur will witness a wave of a deadly political violence as seen in West Bengal.
The people could play a vital role in preventing this catastrophe from happening, such as cutting off any political interference in the workings of the investigation agencies.
Presently, there are some extreme elements who are acting wilfully because they have received political patronage, which is a well-known fact.
If this situation were to continue, political terrorism would soon take the place of fake encounters and unwanted violent incidents." BJP is working against the ideology of party's founders such as Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Manipur's own Madhumangol Sharma.
The party's agenda includes the co-agenda of appeasement to none, but was found appeasing the cadres of SoO groups, as reported by Congress observer Jairam Ramesh.
Many of the local dailies also carried reports of BJP joining hands with cadres of NSCN-IM and beating up an NPF candidate in Chandel, the political commentator further said.
Bijoy then stated that instead of leaving behind a record of good governance for the past 5 years, BJP had been actively practicing rowdyism.
The founders of the party must surely be disappointed with the present scenario, he remarked.
He then stressed the need for reviving the original culture for the sake of the state, while adding that the anger of the people seems to have been obscured by the ego of the leaders.
It is common for a leader to have a political rival but he/she should be neutral as they are the leader of the entire state.
Although the elections are now over, it is difficult to predict which party will emerge victorious.
The one to lead/guide the state should be selected after proper consultation with the to-be elected MLAs and the voters.
Money must not take priority over the interests of the state, he remarked.
