Imphal, April 12 2022:
All Manipur Ethnical Socio-Cultural Organisation (AMESCO) and Meetei Pangal Cultural Organisation (MEPCOM) jointly organised the annual Sajibu Khudol Tamba Eegi Khongul Liba event at Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai in Thoubal district on Tuesday.
Retired librarian Abdul Hakim Basheimayum, retired SDO Khullakpam Ajijur, AMAWOVA vice-president W Ibemma and AMESCO president L Ibotombi attended the event as presidium members.
Gifts were exchanged between members of Meetei and Meetei Pangal communities bolstering the fraternal ties.
In a statement, AMESCO said that there is blood relationship between Meetei and Meetei Pangal communities as the latter are descendants of Meetei women.
Kings in the past gave unique surnames to the Meetei Pangal community to show the blood relationship with Meetei and having such surnames is the identity of their indigenousness to Manipur.
The statement also stressed the importance of building trust, unity and integrity among the different indigenous communities in the state in order to bring about a strong and united Manipur.
