Kakching, April 12 2022:
Women in Governance (WiNG), Thoubal Chapter has demanded police authorities to submit charge sheets related to crime against women in the court without delay so as to ensure that the culprits are punished stringently.
Speaking to media persons at its Wangjing office on Tuesday, WiNG Thoubal promoter Sorokhaibam Thoibi highlighted the frequent incidents of crime against women in the state.
However, the news about punishing the culprits involved in such crimes is negligible.
WinG Manipur strongly condemns such violence against women, she said.
Thoibi recalled that Ningthoujam Lanthoibi Chanu and Wahengbam Jesica both from Thoubal district are the two latest victims of crime against women.
Lanthoibi was shot dead allegedly by Khangembam Ashok and Jesica was found dead hanging in a suspicious manner.
Drawing the attention of government and police department to look into the matter seriously, Thoibi demanded to find out the truth at the earliest.
She also exerted pressure on the police department for filing charge sheets without further delay.
