Imphal, April 12 2022:
Volunteers of Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) on Tuesday rounded up three people who aided students giving class XII examination, which is being conducted by Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (CoHSEM), in use of unfair means.
Of the three nabbed people, two were involved in supplying cheat notes to students giving examination at a centre while the third is accused of uploading question paper on social media (a WhatsApp group) within one hour of commencement of the exam.
The nabbed people are identified as Thokchom Robinson of Mutum Phibou, Buyamayum Sahish Khan of Oinam Sawombung and Yumkhaibam Amar, who is said to be a teacher at Quest Tutorial.
Robinson and Sahish Khan were involved in providing cheat notes to student examinees while Amar uploaded question papers on a WhatsApp group.
According to general secretary M Somorjit Luwang, DESAM formed a special team to inspect the ongoing class X and XII examinations with special focus on some suspicious examination centres.
The special team received complaints from some guard ians that some people arc supplying cheat notes to students giving class XII exam at KP College, Hiyangthang right from the beginning of the exam.
Accordingly, a 10 member team of DESAM went to KP College on Tues day and kept strict vigil.
They managed to nab both Thokchom Robinson and Buyamayum Sahish along with the Honda Activa used by them.
The DESAM team also recovered several cheat notes from their possession as well as from inside the two-wheeler used by them and both of them confessed to aiding students at the centre.
Mobile phones used by Robinson and Sahish were found to have received messages (question) uploaded by Yumkhaibam Amar on WhatsApp group named Quest Family Girls' 21-22 since the beginning of the exam on April 7 (English) within hour of commencement of the exam.
Answers of the questions were also found to be uploaded on the same WhatsApp group without much delay.
Similar messages were also found uploaded on the same WhatsApp group on MIL and Physics papers.
Yumkhaibam Amar is a teacher at Quest Tutorial and how he got question papers so early remains a big question, Somorjit Luwang said, adding that some non-teaching staff of the college were also involved in providing cheat notes to students and this has been revealed by Robinson and Sahish.
There is strong possibility of question leakage of the ongoing COHEM exam as questions were available even before one hour of commencement of exam since day one of the exam and involvement of SO, OC and AOC in the question leakage cannot be ruled out, Somorjit Luwang said and urged the government to take necessary action or else people will not trust class X and XII examinations conducted by BSEM and CoHSEM in future.
Such incidents had occurred in the past but culprits were not given punishment, the DESAM leader said and stressed the need for having a stringent law to punish those helping students to indulge in unfair means in exams.
