Imphal, April 12 2022:
The All Manipur Hill and Valley Individual Surrenderee Welfare Association (AMHVISWA) has urged the State Government to make sure all the cadres who joined the mainstream society get the benefits entitled to them.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, AMHVISWA general secretary Md Abdul Latif continued that cadres who have laid down arms are managing to live with difficulty as they didn't get any benefit from the Government.
Saying that the previous Government resolved to enlist these cadres in security forces by giving certain relaxation on age, health condition and qualification in 2017, Abdul Latif claimed that the Government, however, is not even giving stipend and weapon incentive let alone enlist them in the security forces.
Those who surrendered in groups have received some assistance from the Government but the same is not the case for those who surrendered individually, he added.
Continuing that about 150 cadres who surrendered individually are still not safe as they stay at their respective houses, he urged Chief Minister N Biren to look into the matter and do the needful.
"If the Government doesn't pay heed to the proposal then we might pick up arms again or launch a democratic agitation," he cautioned.
