Cong media panellist briefly detained

Imphal, April 12 2022:
A team of City police station on Tuesday arrested Congress Party media panellist and advocate Sanoujam Samachoron and produced him before the Duty Magistrate, which then remanded him in police custody.
However, Samachoron was granted bail later in the evening on execution of a PR bond of Rs 30,000 and a surety of the same amount.
According to a police report, during a discussion programme of a local cable network on April 9, Samachoron made derogatory statements against Home Minister Amit Shah along with using unparliamentary languages against Hindu religion, following which the president of BJP Yuva Morcha filed a written complaint to the police and requested for strict legal action.
Based on the complaint, a team of City PS arrested Samachoron from his residence on Monday evening.
On Tuesday evening, Samachoron was produced before the Duty Magistrate which then remanded him in police custody.
Meanwhile, BJYM Manipur condemned the defamatory and derogatory statements made by Samachoron, with intent of causing disharmony among the different communities.
As such, a complaint was filed to the police by the president of BJP Yuva Morcha in this regard.
The Morcha then appreciated the government and the police for arresting Samachoron promptly.
