Arunkumar pledges to bring equitable development

Wangkhei MLA Thangjam Arunkumar has pledged to bring equitable development in the constituency without any biasness and said that he has already started taking up initiatives in this regard.
Attending a felicitation programme organised in his honour by 15/22 Booth Level Committee at Dimdai long Community Hall here on Tuesday, Arunkumar assured of consulting with the minister concerned about registration of land, where the programme was organised, as soon as the cabinet expansion is completed.
Noting that drainage issue has been a major problem in the constituency with the people experiencing clogged drains and waterlogging in the event of even light rainfall, he said that as construction of new drainage system would take time focus would be towards de-clogging the drains ahead of the monsoon season.
The first time MLA also in formed that he has started a mission to clean the drains by hiring two or three volunteers from each locality with payment of compatible wages to prevent clogging of drains.
Arunkumar also said that he will urge the government to include additional fund for addressing the problem of flooding by water overflow ing from Imphal River in the state budget.
Road renovation project for New Checkon to Pureiromba Khongnangk-hong has been included in the government's 100-day programme, Other roads in the constituency will be renovated with the local area development fund and had also talked with MAHUD minister for beautification projects, the MLA continued.
Assuring to complete ongoing construction of water supply projects and making them functional within three months, he said necessary measures would be put in place to ensure regular provision of PDS items to the beneficiaries and urged all eligible families who have been left out from government schemes to submit their documents to get enrolled.
He further said that he is planning to launch special projects to provide self-employment opportunities to educated unemployed youth.
He has also joined hands with social welfare department and police department to crack down on drugs menace, he added.
Organising committee chairman professor G An-gam, Dimdailong Pei secretary Poudongai Kamson, Namthanbung Pei secretary Mani Gonmei and retired Mission Lane headmaster Kapangkhui Jajo also attended the programme.
