Kangpokpi, April 12 2022:
Even as thousands of students have been giving the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination with full of hope and dream to achieve something, one particular student of Bishnulal High School at Charhajare, Kangpokpi district dropped the examination after appearing on the first day only due to shortage of teachers in his school.
The incident came to light when the flying squad of KSO Sadar Hills checked the attendance record of the student and inquired why he skipped all other subjects except English to the Headmaster concerned.
Speaking to the media, KSO Sadar Hills president Hemin Kipgen said that he met the student and inquired why he opted to skip the HSLC examination after appearing only in English paper.
Claiming that there are only English and Hindi teachers in Bishnulal High School as per the student and as such his chances of passing are literally low, Hemin said that the KSO found everything the student said to be true on further inquiry.
He then asked the Education Department to take responsibility for the student skipping HSLC examination.
Hemin also stated that KSO will convene a joint meeting of all student bodies in the district to discuss various education related issues in Kangpokpi.
Reportedly, six teachers under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) were posted at Bishnulal High School after it was upgraded to High School.
However, out of the six, five had been transferred to other schools without replacement.
Apart from RMSA teachers, three graduate teachers (science) and two graduate teachers (Arts) were also transferred from the school without replacement.
According to the Headmaster Kharga Prasad Prasain, who is also the chairman of the school management and development committee of the school, Bishnulal High School has only three teachers currently.
The school also doesn't have any LDC, Data Entry Operator or a peon.
Altogether, ten teachers have been transferred from the school, he said.
He also said that the student who only gave an English paper in the HSLC examination had gone to Guwahati.
I have written to the Director of Department of Education (S) to take immediate actions last year and then to the district student bodies for their intervention in the larger interest of the student community, he added.
Meanwhile, KSO Sadar Hills urged the State Government to take the matter very seriously and send the required teachers and staff of the school at the earliest.
