South East Manipur Higher Secondary School (SEMHSS), Kapaam, Chandel district has refuted reports on local TV news and social media regarding an incident at the SEMHSS HSE Centre on April 9.In a statement issued on Monday, SEMHSS principal stated that the unfortunate incident took place at the SEMHSS exam centre and not at South East Manipur College (SEMCO) as widely being circulated.
The allegations against invigilators of harassing the students, including denial to quench thirst while writing exam, is baseless and mischievous attempt to undermine the reputation of the school.
SEMHSS is holding the on going XII-exam under the guide lines and precautions of CoHSEM and ensures the well-being of the students.
Due to the on going pandemic, the school enforced mandatory Covid protocols including safe social distancing and non-sharing of water bottles among the students, with the invigilators providing water bottles to the students in need, it emphasised.
SEMHSS mentioned that the school is concerned about the unfortunate incident where the students not only rioted at the SEMHSS exam centre but proceeded to disturb other exam centres and caused physical and mental harassment to innocent SEMHSS students writing their exams at one of the affected centres.
The school appreciates the timely intervention by Chandel Police, Kakching Police and Pallel Police teams in mediating and assisting in escorting the affected and aggrieved students to their respective exam centres.
The assistance from NSUC and its units is also highly appreciated.
SEMHSS does not condone any acts of unfair means including cheating, impersonation and mass copying, as well as any act of violence/mob within and outside the exam centre.
The school prays that such unfortunate incidents do not take place elsewhere in the future, it also conveyed.
SEMHSS also urged the media channels to verify information and facts from multiple sources before broadcasting one sided-report, so that the public may get access to the truth.
