Kakwa firing incident: Charges framed against accused

Imphal, April 12 2022:
The Session Judge Imphal West has on Tuesday framed charges against six accused in the murder of RK Khasper (17) on February 27 at Naorem Leikai Amujao (Sofa) Leirak.
Out of the six accused, Longjam Rakeshkumar and Longjam Achou pleaded not guilty while the remaining four namely Longjam Chitraranjan @ Apu, Longjam Niranjan, Longjam Manoranjan @ Mocha and Longjam Langkeshwor @ Pekto pleaded guilty during the charge hearing.
The Court fixed April 26 for sentence hearing of the four accused who pleaded guilty and May 9 for hearing of prosecution witnesses against the two who pleaded not guilty.
The case was committed from CJM Imphal West to the Session Court Imphal West.
The prosecution story is that one unknown person fired some rounds of bullets from the house of accused Longjam Achou on February 21, 2021 at around 11.30 pm due to which four persons viz Naorem Khasper, Naorem Inao Devi, Naorem Arjit and Naorem Bung all from Kakwa Naorem Leikai and some of their associates sustained bullet injuries while Khasper succumbed to injuries at Raj Medicity on February 28 .
During the investigation of the case, police seized four empty cartridges from the corridor of accused L Rakeshkumar's house at Kakwa Huidrom Leikai.
Longjam Achou and his son Longjam Rakeshkumar were arrested from MG Avenue on February 28 and from their procession one .32 pistol, a magazine with seven live rounds and a double barrel license gun were seized.
The Court after hearing the Public Prosecutor and defence counsel farmed charges against all the accused under different sections of IPC.
As four accused have pleaded guilty, the Court fixed April 26 for sentence hearing against them.
