Senapati, August 21 2026:
The Liangmai Naga Council, Manipur has questioned the Government over its failure to deliver justice for the six abducted Liangmai Naga men even after 100 days after they were abducted and killed.
The six Liangmai Naga men were among several abducted by Kukis on May 13 from Leilon Vaiphei village.
Thir mutilated bodies were recovered on June 10 .
Speaking to reporters today, LNC president and co-convenor of Joint Tribe Council, Timothy Wijunamai, said the Government's prolonged failure to arrest all the culprits involved in the heinous killing could lead to further unrest and invite a more intensified agitation.
He said the LNCM strongly condemns the use of excessive force by security forces against protesters at Namdilong near Kanglatongbi yesterday.
He said people including grieving families of the six Liangmai men were protesting peacefully, demanding justice, when the security forces cracked down on them violently.
The use of excessive force and rubber bullets hurt many and grievously injured four including the wife of one of the six men who were abducted on May 13 and killed, he added.
The security forces' insensitiveness and the use of excessive forces against peaceful and grieving protesters has hurt the sentiments of the community, he said.
The Government should ensure people's right to peaceful protest, and swiftly take up steps to deliver justice for the six Liangmai Naga men, whose bodies are still lying unclaimed at JNIMS mortuary, he added.
