Blessing ceremony held

The blessing ceremony of Nongin Shumang Leela Artistes Association's 'Ayukki Likla' and 'Nongthanganbi' was held at Keishampat Kangabam Leikai today.
Dignitaries present at the event include writer of Nongthanganbi, Tayenjam Tomba; Thiyam Minakumar, writer of Ayukki Likla; Robindro Langthabal, director of both plays; Laishram Tomba, president, Nongin Sumang Leela Artiste Association and renowned writer Manaobi MM.
Speaking on the occasion, Manaobi MM highlighted the importance of the art form of Shumang Leela stating it carries thought evoking messages on various issues of the State.
However, the art form has been degrading day by day as artistes face income problems and gradually choose to leave the profession, he added.
He maintained that it is love of the artform from various young artistes which would help in preserving it in the state.
Laishram Tomba stated that Sumang Leela script is very much important as it is an act which is shown visually and a good script touches all the emotions of the character.
He lamented that Sumang Leela depends on a unique script carrying a message which would alert the people on various public issues of the society.
He expressed hope that artistes would work together to bring forward more Shumang Leelas which would provide more awareness to the people.
Robindro Langthabal stated that Ayukki Likla is a play based on the present issue of mob lynching in hospitals without any justice and consultation and the play Nongthanganbi is a family play based on searching the meaning of true love.
