AR organises football, volleyball matches

Somsai Battalion organised a Friendly football match between Khamasom Walleli and Sihai Khunou football teams at Khamasom walleli Football Ground, Ukhrul district yesterday under the aegis of IGAR (South).
The purpose of organising the football match was to encourage and nurture the budding sportsmen and also promote "Fit India" and "Khelo India" campaigns, said PRO of IGAR (S) in a statement.
The event also provided a platform for local youth to showcase their sporting prowess and an opportunity to further tap into the rising fervour for the upcoming Durand cup which will be co- hosted by Manipur, the statement said while adding that Khamasom Walleli won the match by 3-2 goals.
In the meantime.
Modi Battalion of Assam Rifles organised a friendly volleyball match and a motivational lecture on Agniveer scheme for the youth of Angthi village, Chandel district yesterday.
The event was organised as a part of "Fit India Movement" and with an objective to foster fitness regime among the youth and student body of Beru Angthi and Modi villages, a separate statement of IGAR (S) said.
After the match, the youth were informed about the "Agniveer" recruitment scheme along with other employment opportunities, through a lecture, the statement said.
A total of 15 players and 20 spectators were part of the volleyball match and the motivational lecture, it added.
