Imphal, September 06 2026: A large number of people today took out a rally at Khwairamband Keithel demanding justice for all the people who had been abducted and disappeared without any trace since May 3, 2023 as well as the six Liangmai Nagas abducted from Leilon Vaiphei Kuki village and later found butchered in the most savage manner.

The rally witnessed a tense stand off between the protesters and security forces, with the latter firing several rounds of tear gas shells.

The rally was jointly organised by the Coordination Committee Imphal Area (Joint Tribe council), Save Indigenous People of Manipur (SIPOM) and the women vendors of Khwairamband Keithel.

Soon after the rally started from the space located between the two Ima Keithels, security forces blocked the path resulting in a standoff.

Nonetheless, the protesters took the Nagamapal road but they were again blocked by security forces.

As the two sides were caught in a tense standoff, security forces fired several rounds of tear gas shells in their bid to drive away the protesters.

Speaking to the media, Naga Humanitarian Aid Committee, Manipur (NHACM) co-convenor Thaimei alleged that the Chief Minister, Home Minister and MLAs have been taking the side of Kuki narco-terrorists instead of delivering justice even though the Kuki narco-terrorists have been continuously killing indigenous people and burning houses.

"Even though we have submitted a number of memoranda and talked with the Government several times on the murder of six Liangmai Nagas, the Government has not given due seriousness or urgency to deliver justice", Thaimei said.

He said that the Naga and Meitei people will launch strong agitation if the Government fails to adopt a resolution in the State Assembly on September 7 to bring justice to the six slain Liangmais and all other incidents of carnage committed by Kuki narco-terrorists.

Khwairamband Nupi Keithel Sinpham Amadi Saktam Kanba Lup president Ksh Shanti expressed strong indignation against the Government's failure to take up any concrete action regarding the killing of six Liangmai people in the most barbarous manner.

Pointing out that the families of the victims have not been conducting the last rites of their dear ones, awaiting justice, Shanti decried the State Government's silence on the outrageous issue.

She urged the State Government to adopt a resolution in the State Assembly tomorrow to do justice to all the people who had been abducted and feared dead but whose bodies could not be recovered till date as well as the six Liangmai Nagas who were abducted from Leilon Vaiphei Kuki village and later butchered to pieces.

She also denounced the alleged irresponsible attitude shown by the Chief Minister and the Home Minister and shirking their responsibilities on the pretext that these cases have been handed over to the NIA .

Rongmei Naga Luh Phuam (Rongmei Women's Organisation) president Chingdanliu Panmei said that neither the Government of India nor the State Government has done anything concrete to bring justice to the spine-chilling murder of the six Liangmai hostages even though it has been more than 100 days since the six innocent men were butchered.

Alleging that the Government of India has been waging a proxy war against both the Meiteis and the Nagas, Chingdanliu asked if New Delhi has decided to hand over Manipur to Kukis.

She urged all the Meitei and Naga legislators to table and discuss in the State Assembly the issue of all those people who were abducted after the May 3, 2023 violence and feared dead but whose bodies could not be recovered so far, and adopt appropriate resolutions to deliver justice to the indigenous people.
