Nungsai Chiru Village clarifies no relation to Rooney Chiru

The Nungsai Chiru Village Authority has clarified that Nungsai Chiru Village and the Chiru community have no responsibility for any alleged act, activity, association, or decision undertaken by Rooney Chiru in his individual capacity.
The above clarification was made by Thangpu Thanga Chiru, Village Chief of Nungsai Chiru Village, Kangpokpi District during a press meet held today at Nungsai Chiru Village Authority Office.
It may be noted that Rooney Chiru was among the five cadres of United Socialist Revolutionary Army (USRA), a group operating under the KNO/KNA arrested during a search operation carried out by a combined team of CoBRA and 5 Assam Rifles at Chiangpi village in Churachandpur district on September 11, 2026 .
Referring to the news reports, the village chief stated, 'I wish to make it clear that Nungsai Chiru Village and the Chiru community have no responsibility for any alleged act, activity, association, or decision undertaken by Rooney Chiru in his individual capacity.
Whatever actions he may have undertaken are entirely his own responsibility and should not, in any manner, be attributed to Nungsai Chiru Village or to the Chiru community as a whole.' He also appealed to the people of Manipur, the media, and all authorities concerned not to associate any alleged act or activity of an individual with the entire Nungsai Chiru Village or the Chiru community.
Any act allegedly committed by an individual should be treated strictly as that individual's personal responsibility and should not be used to draw conclusions about, blame, or stigmatise the village or the community, he added.
The chief informed that Rooney Chiru (bom in July 26, 1996), son of Jonathan Chiru, is originally from Nungsai Chiru Village however he has been declared non-citizen of Nungsai Chiru Village in 2015 after he left the village with his wife and the village and his family have had no regular contact or communication with him.
Social worker KC Chiru alias Athang who attended the press meet, categorically stated that the village authority has already and urged all concerned to refrain from issuing or spreading unwarranted news so as to maintain peace and tranquility.
Speaking at the press meet, Jonathan Chiru, father of Rooney Chiru reaffirmed that his son does not have any association with the village nor the community anymore.
The press meet was also attended by officials of Nungsai Chiru Village Authority and prominent members of the village.
