1st MNCAU-14 Boys: S Richie, Stoneson heroics fire PTRC to fourth straight victory

PTRC, Patsoi cruised to their fourth straight win in the 1 st MNCA U-14 boys Tournament with a 64 run thrashing of YWC, Langthabal today at PTRC ground and sealed their place in the semi-finals with a Group A game left to play.
The day also saw TCMDC, Thongju crush Shadow CC by 146 runs for the fourth win in 5 matches to book a place in the semi-finals from the same group.
PTRC, having beaten MPA, AKSDO and TCMDC in the previous game posted a commanding total of 234 runs for 3 in 25 overs as Salam Richie blazed off 89 off 83 balls, including 12 fours and 2 sixes and Stoneson slammed 65 of 39 balls (6 fours and 4 sixes) and held WYC to 170 for 8 for the huge win.
PTRC's Robinson Sougaijam also added a significant 40 runs for the 129-run first wicket partnership with Salam Richie before Stoneson anchored well.
Seram Tondonsana and Kelvinson Khoisnam picked a wicket each in this innings before they struggled in the chase.
Chasing 235 for the win, YWC had a forgettable start as Yumnam Achouba departed for 4-ball duck in the 4th over when the scoreboard read 6.Sorokhaibam Thoungamba (45) and Yumnam Kumar (7) rescued YWC from precarious position but Bush Sagolshem came in to break the 57 run second wicket partnership by removing Y Kumar in the 9th over.
Pukhrambam Bonison also added (24) but Laitonjam James undone him in the 22nd over to keep things under control.
James went on to pick Yumnam Brightson (1) and Y Athouba (38) to complete his three wicket haul (3712 in 5 overs).
Salam Richie who shone with both the bat and ball was adjudged man of the match.
Elsewhere at PCC ground, TCMDC who suffered lost to PTRC in the previous game, bounced back to beat Shadow CC by 146 runs courtesy half centuries from Laishram Valindra and Maibam , Napolian and three wicket haul by Rain Urikhinbam.
TCMDC after winning the toss and electing to bat first, did not have the best of the start as they were reduced to 69 for 4 in 9.3 overs despite Rain Urikhinbam fighting 20-ball 37 .
However the innings took a turn with Laishram Valindra (67 off 55 balls, 11 fours and 2 sixes) and Maibam Napolian (25-ball 65, five fours and 6 sixes) resurrected the innings with ease.
Later on Sagolshem Rojesh added 32 runs to help TCMDC post a huge total of 234 runs for 8 in 25 overs.
The innings saw Shadow CC's S Telheiba claim two wickets for 42 runs as Arubma Goshan, Chinglemba Haobam, Thomsan, Sagatpam Lanchenba, Devis Khunjamayum and Pebam Leishemba took a wicket apiece.
In the chase, Shadow CC faced stiff opposition from TCMDC bowlers and eventually finished the innings at 88 for 7 as Rain Urikhinbam snapped three wickets for 27 runs in 5 overs to apply brakes on the chase.
Vishonath Laishram also picked two wickets for 19 runs in his spell of 5 overs as Maibam Napolian and Phanjoubam Nikesh shared a wicket each.
Rain Urikhinbam was eventually named man of the match.
Shadow CC will play PTRC in the last Group A league match on August 2 at PTRC ground, Patsoi.
