Imphal, July 31 2022:
Thangmeiband MLA Kh Joykisan questioned whether the former Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) corporators can use the Tata mini trucks bought by IMC for each of its 27 wards for hauling garbage and other public works, as personal properties, as he has received reports that they are renting out the vehicles for private use.
During the Zero Hour of the on-going Assembly session on Saturday, Joykisan said that on his way to the Assembly on Saturday, while passing through Thangmeiband Ward No 3, Thangmeiband Thingel Leikai, he encountered a vehicle which had Ward Development Committee, Ward No 2 marked on it, hauling soil for a private residence.

On stopping the vehicle and questioning the driver, it was found that the vehicle was given by a former corporator, he added.
Joykisan recalled that once during a cleanliness drive of the locality, queries were made about the same vehicle but was told that it was not available.
He urged MAHUD minister to investigate the matter, while asking the latter to reply whether the vehicles provided for wards are in the hands of former corporators and if these vehicles are rented out, how much is the rent? And if there is no such provision, then the minister must inform who is in charge of these vehicles, Joykisan insisted.
