Imphal, July 31 2022:
The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has appealed to the people of Manipur to take part in the Manipur Integrity Day observation which will be held on August 4 at two locations viz Manipur Integrity Pillar which is situated on the northern side of Manipur State Museum and at Kwakeithel Akham Leikai.
In a statement, AMUCO stated that the main observance will be held at its office at Kwakeithel Akham Leikai after offering floral tributes at Manipur Integrity Day.
Highlighting the significance of the day, AMUCO recalled that a mass rally was taken out by over five lakh people of the State on August 4, 1997 to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur which is 'constantly threatened' by the Government of India through peace talks with NSCN (IM).
Saying that the historic rally exhibited the strength of unity and commitment of every Manipuri to protect the territorial integrity of the State, AMUCO continued that a massive public meeting was convened at Mapal Kangjeibung after the rally and a collective stand was taken to face every internal and external force which attempt to break the unity and integrity of the State.
The statement stated that AMUCO has been observing Manipur Integrity Day on August 4 every year since then to recall the massive and historic rally which was taken out to save Manipur.
Claiming that the Government of India is still striving to disturb the unity and integrity of Manipur using different tactics even today, AMUCO urged the people to always be on guard so as to defeat the endeavour of the Centre.
The organisation also accused the Centre of launching a series of hidden agenda to create division among the people through a hideous policy and exterminate the indigenous people.
Urging all to never indulge in activities which may drive a wedge among the people of Manipur, AMUCO cautioned that the "outsiders will overwhelm us if there is distrust among us.
"At a time when the world is competing on development, the Manipuris are compelled to focus on protecting its land due to the hideous policy of the Centre," it claimed.
Alleging that the erstwhile kingdom of Kangleipak was forcefully merged with India in 1947, AMUCO claimed that the Government of India is also deploying a divide and rule policy in the region in the name of suppressing insurgency.
