UCC seal 1 wicket win over SSU in MNCA Plate Tournament

UCC, Uripok sealed a narrow 1 wicket win over SSU, Singjamei in a Group A league match of the ongoing 6th MNCA Plate Tournament here at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.
SSU, who have won two of two previous games, posted a lowly total of 117 runs for 9 in allotted 25 overs today after opting to bat first and the Uripok side held their nerves to gather winning 121 for 9 in 21.5 overs despite Chungkham Gugu's three wicket haul (3/28 in 5 overs).
UCC bowlers produced a disciplined bowling performance today and got the breakthrough early in the opening over as Thokchom Yoihenba trapped Anang Mangang lbw for 3-ball duck.
SSU further slipped to 43 for 5 within 12.2 overs.
Sujeet (27) provided stability at one point before Rupachandra (27) saw out the innings with L Ricky (2).Roshan Das (2/21) and Shyam Kumar Ray (2/24) picked up two wickets each in this innings as Thokchom Yoihenba, Arnold Leishangthem and Konsam Gulson Singh shared a wicket each to pile pressure on SSU.
UCC's innings was also a rough one as Dingku G bowled out Haobam Ajitkumar for a golden duck in the freak opening ball before Ch Gugu removed Roshan Das and Thangjam Anson Singh for identical 3 to reduce the chase to 17 for 3 in the fourth over.
Dingku G then caught and bowled Moiranthem Satish for 16 in the 5th over before Durgesh Sharma produced a 12-ball 30 knock to help UCC keep up the pace.
After Sougrakpam Doughlas undone Durgesh in the 8th over, UCC slumped to 74 for 7 in 11.3 overs but Konsam Gulson stood firm to score an unbeaten 33 off 47 balls and take their total past the target in 21.5 overs with only 1 wicket left to spare.
Chungkham Gugu finished with the best bowling figures of 3/28 in 5 overs for SSU as Dingku G and Jayananda PC ended up sharing two wickets apiece.
Gulson who had also taken a wicket in the SSU innings was eventually named man of the match.
