Imphal, September 13 2026: The Tousem Area Students' Organization (TASO) has strongly condemned the killing of Seikhoneh Singsit (54) and his wife Lhingzangai Singsit (42) in firings reported at Tolen village under Tousem subdivision, Tamenglong district today.

A 6-year-old son of the couple was also grievously injured in the "brutal and dastardly attack", said TASO in a statement.

"The violent attack targeted an innocent family, an abominable act that stands entirely condemned by all humane and civilized society.

We are deeply shocked and outraged by this heinous act and stand firmly against all forms of violence and brutality against innocent civilians," TASO said.

Emphasizing its long-standing commitment to peace in the region, TASO noted that the people living within the Tousem subdivision have consistently preserved a peaceful culture.

Demanding justice, TASO urged law enforcement authorities to take immediate, stern legal action against the unlawful "gangs" responsible for the brutal assault on civilians.

TASO also appealed to the local populace to remain calm, exercise utmost caution and restraint, and refrain from any actions that could further escalate violence and tension in the region.
