Imphal, September 13 2026: Four persons including a man and his wife were killed in two separate attacks by unknown militants at Tollen and Longpi villages.

A minor son of the slain couple sustained injuries.

Sources said that unknown militants attacked S Tollen Kuki village, Tousem sub-division, Tamenglong district under Kaimai police station at around 4 am today, killing Lhingzangai Singsit on the spot.

Lhingzangai Singsit's husband Seineh Singsit and his minor son also sustained bullet injuries in the attack and they were airlifted to Silchar Medical College Hospital but Seineh Singsit succumbed to the injuries.

An adjacent house of the deceased was also fired upon by the militants but there was no report of any injuries in that attack.

Soon after the incident, a team of Kaimai police station and Central forces rushed to L Tollen to bring the situation under control.

Additional security personnel have also reportedly rushed to the spot, said the sources.

Two other persons including a woman were killed in another attack carried out by unknown militants at Longpi village, Noney district under Nungba police station at around 4 pm.

Thangvel Gangte and Julie Gangte, both from Sempat village were on their way to transporting rice when unknown militants launched a deadly attack at Longpi village.

The two were killed in the attack, sources said.

According to the sources, one villager was also reported missing.

Meanwhile, the Kaimai Village Authority has strongly condemned the attack carried out by an unidentified group in their area.

Such acts are the works of groups with vested interests aimed at sowing seeds of mistrust between communities, said a press release issued by the Kaimai Village Authority.

The village authority has appealed to authorities concerned to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice at the earliest.

It also appealed to both communities to exercise restraint, patience and maturity, and not allow rumours or provocations to escalate tensions.

"We refuse to let this incident divide us or damage the trust we have built with our neighbours over the years", the Kaimai Village Authority said.
