UKNA camp dismantled, 2 cadres killed

Imphal, September 05 2026:
In an operation on September 2, Army and Assam Rifles dismantled a UKNA camp, killing two members of the insurgent group at Phaibung village in Churachandpur.
Phaibung village falls under Henglep subdivision of Churachandpur district.
The UKNA or the United Kuki National Army is a non-SoO (Suspension of Operation) insurgent group.
A reliable source said that the operation was carried out jointly by the Army and Assam Rifles.
Sharing details of the operation, the source said, "Maintaining complete surprise, the joint team of the Army and AR reached close to the UKNA hideout area and challenged the insurgents who immediately responded with high intensity automatic fire" .

The security forces' team retaliated and pushed back the insurgents, eliminating two of them.
The team carried out a search of the area and recovered three automatic rifles and one 40mm Lathode along with a large quantity of war-like stores.
After the search, the camp was destroyed, said the source.
Operations against UKNA are still on, added the source.
