Wangoi MLA petitions DC in missing rice case

Regarding non-distribution of NFSA rice for the month of March, 2022 to beneficiaries of the constituency despite lifting of the same from government warehouse, Wangoi MLA Kh Loken has submitted a written complaint to DC Imphal West with the request for initiating an enquiry and punishing the wrongdoers, if any, as per law.
MLA Loken informed media persons on Monday that chief minister N Biren Singh made frequent announcements to end the corruption culture and that there will no corruption in government job recruitment.
However, rice provided to people under NFSA by the Central government is being con verted into a big business in Wangoi AC.
NFSA rice meant for people of the constituency for the month of February, 2022 was withdrawn by agents but there was no proper distribution and now the entire rice quota of the constituency for March, 2022 has been missing after be ing lifted from government warehouse, he alleged and drew immediate attention of the chief minister on the matter so as to punish those doing business on people's stomach.
While citing report from district supply officer (CAF & PD), MLA Loken pointed out that 1519.90 quintal of rice meant for priority households in Wangoi AC for the month of March, 2022 and 336.70 quintal rice for AAY scheme were withdrawn from CAF & PD warehouse.
However, these huge rice quotas remained undistributed to beneficiaries till reaching the mid die of April month though meant for March month.
Accordingly, a complaint in this regard was made to DC Imphal West to initiate an enquiry and punish those involved in siphoning off rice as per law of the land, Loken added.
