Kakching, April 12 2022:
Although there are only 5 sitting Congress MLAs in the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly, the party will shoulder the responsibility of opposition and guide the state government in working for the welfare of the people, said Sugnu MLA Kangujam Ranjit.
Election Campaign Com mittee Kakching Khunou on Monday organised a felicitation function for Ranjit, who has been elected as the representative of Sugnu constituency for the sixth time, at the residence of Development Committee Kakching Khunou secretary Thingnam Rishikesh at Kakching Khunou Thingnam Ningthou Leikai.
Speaking on the occasion, Ranjit pointed out that his opponent in the recent polls was in reality the central leaders of BJP, Manipur Chief Minister, others ministers and MLAs, BJP Manipur Pradesh president and RSS leaders.
The appearance of an independent candidate from Serou was also a conspiracy of his opponents, he alleged.
Ranjit then said he is deeply grateful to the denizens of Sugnu for their sup port in the recent polls and as such, vowed to develop the constituency further.
He also assured of focussing on improving the education sector, healthcare and access to safe drinking water in the constituency, while adding that the Water Supply Scheme project in Kakching Khunou area, which is being constructed at a cost of Rs 12.50 crore, will be completed soon.

The water supply schemes at Pangant-abi, Tangjeng and Chairel, which are being constructed through state funds, will also be completed soon, he added.
Ranjit then said that the recent election was not an election but selection, which left Congress in the role of opposition.
He then contended that he will take his role as an opposition member of the House seriously and work for the betterment of Sugnu AC and the state.
The felicitation function was also attended by Development Committee Kakching Khunou Advisory Committee members M Chandramani, M Ibohal, Th Bhorot, Th Kalachand; Committee secretary Thingnam Rishikesh and executive member Kh Meghachandra among others.
