Court frames charges in Casper death case

Imphal, April 12 2022:
The court of District and Sessions Judge, Imphal West on Tuesday framed charges against people accused in a shooting incident that occurred on February 27, 2021, wherein one Naorem Casper (18) s/o Somen of Naorem Leikai was shot dead and three others left injured.
During the hearing of the case, the court ruled for charges to be framed against accused Longjam Rakeshkumar (45) s/o Achou of Kakwa Huidrom Leikai, Longjam Achou (76), Longjam Niranjan alias Naocha (38), Longjam Manoranjan alias Mocha (35) and Longjam Langkeshwor alias Pekto (73) under Section 426/34 of IPC.
The Court discharged accused no 2 to 6 under Section 302/307/326/506/120 B of IPC while accused no 1 was discharged under Section 307/406/120 b of IPC.
The Court found that all six accused thronged and pelted stones at the house of Naorem Hemabati with common intention under Section 426/34 and found them guilty under Section 425/34 of IPC.
Longjam Rakeshkumar shot N Amarjit on the night of February 27, 2021 around 11.30pm causing simple injury and is liable to be charged with under Section 324 of IPC.
He (Rakesh kumar) also shot Bungo, Inao, Hemabati, Thoibisana, Banish and Varun, thereby causing grievous injuries and liable to be charged with under Section 326 of IPC.
One of the shots fired by him led to the death of Casper and as such, Rakeshkumar is liable to be charged with under Section 302 of IPC.
Furthermore, he is also liable to be charged with under Section 25 (1-B) of the Arms Act for using firearm in violation of the statutory provision, the court ruled.
