4th MNCA Luwangpokpa T20 Trophy : KCDO, THAU, KIYC register first wins; KASC ease to second win

Imphal, December 28 2023: KCDO-Kongpal, THAU-Thangmeiband and KIYC-Kshetrigao sealed first win in three matches of the ongoing 4th MNCA Luwangpokpa T20 Trophy as KASC-Khomidok pulled off second win in four matches.

At Moijing Public Ground, KCDO sealed a narrow 1 wicket win over SDC-Laipham Khunou in a keenly contested Group A clash.

SDC amassed 140 runs for 6 wickets after opting to bat first but KCDO fought hard to seal the victory with 1 wicket and 1 ball left to spare.

Khundrakpam James hit 5 fours and 3 sixes on the way to his 41 ball 57 and Khundrakpam Lenin added 28 off 32 balls to take SDC to a moderate total but a team effort from KCDO batters helped the team reach winning 142/9 in 19.5 overs even as Donny 3/25, Krishnakanta Ngangkham 2/24 and Ziad Khan 2/40 of SDC proved too hot to handle.

4th MNCA Luwangpokpa T20 Trophy

For KCDO, Md Ajizur Rahman top-scored with 20-ball 29 followed by Devendro 21, Bikram Phandom 19, Hafiz Imran 16 and Md Umar Sheikh 10 .

In the SDC innings, Lucky Thokchom, Netajit Konsam, Md Abdul Kayum and Devendro picked up a wicket apiece.

At Lairenjam Public Ground, THAU sealed a 27 run victory over SU-Sagolband for their first (Group B) victory in three matches.

THAU added a lowly total of 98 runs for 8 wickets after electing to bat first and bowled out SU for 71 runs in 17.5 overs as Khumukcham Romesh 3/17 and Malesh Kumar Ngangbam 3/8 shared three wickets apiece.

Barun 42 not out was the highest run getter for THAU as Takhellambam Herojit 3/16 and Pakpa Chungkham 2/29 shared a bulk of 5 wickets.

SU never looked in contention while chasing 99 for the win as wickets kept falling in quick succession.

Robin Irengbam 22 and Loitongbam Naoton 10 were the only two SU batters who could gather double digit figures in this innings.

Elsewhere at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, KIYC gathered 112/6 and held YPHUC-Lalambung to 105/8 to seal a narrow 7 run victory.

It was the first win for the Kshetrigao side having suffered defeats in the first two matches.

Md Suhail 44 and Md Abdulla Khan 20 led the scoring for KIYC in their innings which saw Birbal Irom pick two wickets and three others managed a wicket apiece.

In reply, YPHUC's Sunny Irom 44 and Amrendra Prasad Gupta 21 played sensibly but the team could collect only 105 runs to slump to a narrow loss as Md Kaosar (4/19) fetched four wickets and Thokchom Rajiv picked two (2/18) .

Meanwhile, KASC thrash NCA-Ningthoukhong by 71 runs at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground for the second Group D win in four matches.

KASC rode on Md Ali Karim 46, Md Aqeel 38 and WM Rajak 25 to pile up 148 runs for 9 wickets and held NCA to 77 all out within 14.2 overs.

L Sadananda of NCA picked four wickets (4/24) and Angom Robinhood scalped twice (2/29) but their efforts went in vain as their top orders except for Robinhood 23 fell cheaply before their collapse at 77 as Qurshid Alam (4/26) and Md Farijuddin (4/8) of KASC rattled their batting line up.
