Long March halts at Yairipok

Imphal, December 28 2023:
The long march being undertaken by the Manipur Youth League (MAYOL) under the banner of 'peace, co-existence and collective development' reached Yairipok today.
Today's leg of the long march was flagged off from Wangjing.
From Wangjing, the marchers and a number of supporters made their way toward Thoubal Kshetri Leikai.
People came out in large number and showed solidarity to the marchers on the way.
As witnessed throughout the course of the long march, a public meeting was held in the premises of Ibudhou Khamlangba, Thoubal Kshetri Leikai where the marchers had their lunch.
The meeting was organised by Thoubal Kshetri Leikai Semgat-Sagat Lup.
The main speakers at the meeting were GP Women's College Assistant Prof Dr K Indrakumar, Thoubal Municipal Council Councillor Puyam Jote Meitei and MAYOL convenor Asem Prince.
From Thoubal Kshetri Leikai, the marchers headed to Yairipok Top Chingtha where Nongpok Ningthou Youth Association, Top Chingtha Youth Progressive Organisation and Laimanai Youth Club accorded them a warm reception.
A public meeting was also held at Yairipok Top Chingtha where MAYOL founding member Lamyanba Sarangthem gave an insight to the long march.
Imphal Review of Arts and Politics Editor Pradip Phanjoubam, Students' Union of Kangleipak president Ningthoujam Dhanakumar Meitei and research scholar Dr K Bheigyachandra spoke at the meeting.
The 9th day's march culminated at Yairipok Top Chingtha Khunou LP School where the marchers would be halting the night.
MAYOL's long march was flagged off from Kangla on December 20 and it will conclude on January 9 at Maharaj Gambhir Singh Memorial Park, Langthabal Kunja.
