AR rescues Meitei man

Personnel of 9 Assam Rifles rescued a 75 year old man identified as Tongbram Amuba alias Girani from Churachandpur today.
Originally from Chandapur Mayai Leikai, Bishnupur, Tongbram Amuba has been living in P Sejol village since 2010 .
He is a widower, and he had married a Kuki woman.
After receiving threat to his life, he contacted the 9 Assam Rifles, Kangvai for rescue.
AR personnel carried out the operation to rescue the individual in the morning.
After rescuing, AR handed him over to Phougakchao Ikhai police station OC Inspector Subash Chandra.
He has been handed over to his younger brother, who is a resident of Toupokpi village.
Meanwhile security forces recovered a cache of arms, ammunition and explosives including a sniper rifle from the foothill areas of Pungdongbam-Sekta Lousangkhong in Imphal East and L Kanan Village in Churachandpur, today.
The operation at Pungdongbam and Sekta Lousangkhong was carried out by Imphal East commando, Lamlai police, 22 Assam Rifles and 12 Bn CRPF and they recovered one M16 Rifle along with a magazine having four live rounds, one sniper rifle with empty magazine and three hand grenades without detonators.
The search operation concluded at around 10 am and the recovered items have been handed over to Lamlai police station.
No one was arrested.
Meanwhile, a daily bulletin of the Police Control Room (PCR) said that two 9mm pistols with magazines having four live rounds and two rounds respectively and another 9mm pistol with an empty magazine were seized from L Kanan Village.
It continued that search operations were conducted in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Imphal, East, Thoubal and Churachandpur.
