Imphal, December 28 2023:
Rahul Gandhi, who is slowing edging towards 60 years of age and still proclaims himself as the leader of the youth, has announced to kick off his 'Bharat Nyay Yatra' from Manipur.
Although this is rather impractical, it is a lucky for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as every state he visits will ensure BJP's victory during elections, opined BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary K Sarat.
Addressing a press meet at BJP state office at Nityaipat Chuthek here Thursday, Sarat shared his views regarding the announcement by Congress on Wednesday of launching the 'Bharat Nyay Yatra' in January next year from Imphal with the participation participated by AICC president Malikarjun Kharge and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi.
He questioned on which road and till where Malikarjun Kharge plans to "walk", while adding that the so-called "Yatra on foot" is not feasible.
Nonetheless, Congress' 'Bharat Nyay Yatra' would be blessing in disguise for the BJP as every place Rahul Gandhi has ever visited was won by BJP during the recent polls and the same trend will continue in the future.
Of the total 545 seats in the Lok Sabha, Congress won only 50 seats, underscoring people's lack of trust and hope in the party.
Congress calls for annihilating BJP but it would be more suited for BJP to call for elimination of Congress from the state and country, Sarat remarked.
The general secretary further said that Rahul Gandhi, who is nearing 60 years, cannot continue to pretend to be the leader of the youth and a young man himself by wearing a T-shirt in the frigid winter.
The "young" Congress leader should understand that the people are not stupid and easy to fool, he maintained.
Sarat then mentioned about many achievements made by the BJP government, both at the centre arid in the state, including the central government's eagerness to help the state on its initiative.
Questioning what welfare initiatives Congress had done during its term, he mentioned the cancellation of huge packages from the Planning Commission, helicopter and other scams.
PM Narendra Modi transformed the erstwhile Planning Commission into Niti Aayog to rectify all of the wrongs done by Congress.
Scheme beneficiaries now receive their benefits through DBTs.
BJP worked hard to completely uproot Congress, which had been tormenting the people from the state, he said, while remarking that it is rather unbecoming of the latter to talk nonsense just because BJP is at the helm of affairs in the state.
Regarding former speaker and Khundrakpam MLA Th Lokeshwar's statements, which went viral on social media platforms, Sarat expressed regret and strongly condemned the same.
He contended that BJP had not conspired to kill or hurt anyone, and reiterated BJP's stand of having all the indigenous communities of Manipur united and in harmony.
Stating that the people of Manipur were dragged into the conflict due to narco-terro's and foreign militants working together to cultivate poppies in the state, Sarat remarked that Manipur is running out of forest lands due to mass poppy plantations.
The government had launched a mission to deal with this threat, just like the Opium war.
As such, it is extremely unfortunate to have the MLA, who once sat on the honourable seat of a speaker, to reduce the matter to that of a right (now gone out of control) for the two MP seats, the general secretary said.
