Government petitioned for disqualification of 10 MLAs

Naharol Lamjing Meira (NLM), Kongba has petitioned Governor Anusuiya Uikey for disqualification of the 10 Chin-Kuki-Zo MLAs of Manipur Legislative Assembly under provisions of Article 191(1) (d) of the Indian constitution for their allegiance to foreign state supporting the Kuki militants' intention and acts to balkanise Manipur and carve out 'Za-lengam' .
In a memorandum, NLM contended that involvement of foreign elements in the ethnic violence in the state is well-known fact as persistent attacks on Meetei settlements and Meetei community are aimed at creating the perpetrators' fantasised country 'Zalemngam' .
The Chin-Kuki Zo MLAs including two cabinet ministers have openly supported the 'invaders' and demanded 'Separate Administration' consequently fanning the ethnic violence.
It is also pertinent to mention that the Union Home Minister has stated in the parliament that there is involvement of foreign hand in the violence of Manipur.
As such, the MLAs are liable for disqualification under Article 191(1) of the Indian constitution, the memorandum maintained.
It further demanded immediate action against the 10 MLAs and disqualify them as a first .step towards restoring normalcy in Manipur in the interest of the nation in general and Manipur in particular.
