Imphal, December 28 2023:
An Inquiry Committee has been constituted to inquire into the issuance of No Objection Certificate (NOC) by unauthorised persons/officials to 25 educational institutions of the state for affiliation to the Central Board of secondary Education (CBSE).
In a notification, Department of Education (S) joint secretary Anjali Chongtham informed that director (education) L Nandakumar Singh will be chairman of the Committee with additional director (valley) Bisheshwar Khumukcham and additional director (hills) Dangmei Manglem as member and member secretary respectively.
The joint secretary informed that the Committee will identify officials/officers responsible for issuing the NOCs without following due process and scrutinise whether signatures were forged in respect of any signatories in the NOC.
The Committee will further recommend appropriate actions against responsible officers/officials and in case of any evidence of forgeries, appropriate legal action shall be taken up by filing FIR, the joint secretary maintained, adding that the probe panel shall furnish its report to the state government by January 5, 2024.Mention may be made that consequent to the state government apprising authorities concerned, the CBSE recently withdrew the affiliation granted to the 25 schools from Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts.
The affiliation was withdrawn on the ground that the NOCs submitted by these schools were not issued by the authorised functionaries of the state government.
