Imphal, September 16 2026:
Wangkhei AC MLA Thangjam Arunkumar has said the public demand for updating NRC to identify outsiders in Manipur is a legitimate step and the Government is trying to move in line with the people's movement.
The MLA said he fully supports the demand from his side.
He was speaking at the inauguration of a newly constructed classroom cum workshop for Vocational Education at Lamlong Higher Secondary School, Lamlong Keithel today.
On NRC, Arunkumar said resolutions for NRC updation were taken in the Assembly during the time of former Chief Minister N Biren and also by the present Government led by Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand.
A team of MLAs led by Home Minister Govindas also went to Delhi and submitted a memorandum to the Union Home Minister, he said.
He said despite the unrest affecting development works, the Government is giving priority to the education sector, as any delay would spoil the career of students.
He appealed to all communities to work together to restore peace and normalcy.
Principal and teachers of the school also attended the function.
