While there are people waiting for normalcy to be restored, there are also people in both the hills and valley districts who want to keep Manipur on the edge for a prolonged period, he said.
He reiterated that the Government would show those working against peace efforts that there is rule of law in the State.
Stating that his Government was formed on February 4 this year amid the crisis, after the State remained under President's Rule for around a year, Khemchand added that the crisis in Manipur erupted during the tenure of the previous BJP Government.
Daily wage earners, especially women, are the ones mostly affected by the crisis, he said and added that he has been taking up programmes for the welfare of women in consultation with the Central leadership.
He said that a new scheme for street vendors will be announced soon.
Stating that the State Government has been holding talks with representatives of different communities to restore normalcy in the State, the Chief Minister maintained that there, however, are people in both the hill and valley districts who are against the peace efforts.
Khemchand said that many Kuki people were happy when Sinai camp, a designated camp of Kuki armed groups under the SoO pact, was taken over by the CRPF.
Stating that the BJP understands the plight of the people, he added that the party needs to return to power to repay its obligations to them.
The programme was also attended by Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam, MLAs T Robindro, Th Radheshyam and office bearers of BJP, Manipur Pradesh and Oinam Mandal.
