Imphal, November 06 2026:
Recent cases of arson and killings of civilians are being investigated thoroughly to identify accused and witnesses for questioning, said the office of the Director General of Police (DGP) in a statement today.
While it didn't mention particular incidents, the statement said the Police Department is taking up efforts to locate accused and witnesses to the crimes for questioning.
Further, the police along with CoBRA CRPF, BSF, Assam Rifles and the Army are conducting cordon and search operations in the 'affected areas' to take action as per law to punish the perpetrators of the heinous crimes.
"Necessary action is also being taken up with National Investigation Agency," it added.
While the police and all other security forces are taking the matter with utmost concern, security measures have been put in place, and the situation is being closely monitored, said the DGP's office.
Asking for public cooperation in maintaining peace and preventing further violence, the DGP's office appealed to the public to remain calm, exercise restraint and not take the law into their own hands.
"People are also requested not to believe or circulate unverified information, rumours or provocative content on social media, as these may aggravate the situation," further said the DGP .
