Imphal, September 15 2026: Close on the heels of four persons including two women at being shot dead Tollen village in Tamenglong district and Longpi village in Noney district on September 13, 2026, two more women have fallen victims to the continuing violence.

Two women identified as Chonga Sitlhou (60) w/o late Seidou Sitlhou and Kimboi Singson (30) d/o Paosei Singson, both from Leisang village were working on a farm at Leisang hill range, Tamenglong district under Tousem police station when unidentified gunmen opened fire, killing them on the spot at around 4 pm today.

Chonga Sitlhou was gathering firewood on her farm when she was killed, while Kimboi Singson, who had recently completed her nursing course and returned home to assist her parents with farming, was also shot and killed at the same location.

The unknown militants also burnt down a hut built on the farm, sources said.

Soon after the incident, a team of Tousem and Tamenglong police rushed to the spot and initiated due process to evacuate the dead bodies to Jiribam district hospital.

Many others who went to their respective farms in the area were also reportedly missing till the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, the Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) has notified that no Kuki or Zo persons killed by Naga armed groups in Manipur shall be buried until further notice.

The mortal remains of every such victim shall instead be preserved in the nearest available cold storage facility until further directions are issued, the KZC said in a public notice.

The KZC said that their decision is a deliberate and collective measure of protest and resistance against the continuing killing of Kuki and Zo civilians and the failure to ensure justice and accountability for these attacks.

"KZC cannot allow the deaths of our people to be reduced to isolated incidents, forgotten after burial while those responsible continue to operate with impunity", it said.

On the other hand, one woman has been found to have miraculously survived the attack at Lonpgi on September 13 which claimed the lives of a man and woman.

Neiesther sustained multiple gunshot wounds yet she survived the attack.

Neiesther was among a group of three persons, a man and two women, who were moving around the village when they were reportedly attacked by armed assailants.

The two other members of the group, a man and a woman, were found dead at the spot.

Neiesther, however, went missing following the attack and was later found alive despite having suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

According to reports, she was hit by bullets in the head and chest, while another bullet tore through her thigh.

She also sustained gunshot wounds to her buttocks, and two of her toes were reportedly shot off.

Yet, she miraculously survived the attack and is currently receiving medical attention.

One found dead : A man was found dead on Imphal Ring Road connecting Chairenthong with Tinsid Road in Imphal East district under Porompat police station.

Some agricultural workers came across the dead body at around 11.30 am today.

The deceased has been identified as Sapam Suranjoy (31) s/o late Sapam Guna and he bore injury marks on his face.

After an inquest by a team of Forensic Science experts, a police team has picked up the dead body.
