COCOMI questions BJP's stand on 10 Kuki MLAs
Source: Chronicle News Service

Imphal, November 08 2023: Expressing strong objection against the silence of BJP against the 10 Kuki MLAs including two cabinet ministers over their persistent attempt to disintegrate Manipur and encourage killing of state police officer, the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has questioned the stand of BJP and its government on their association with the Kuki MLAs.

In a statement, COCOMI said that Kuki narco-terrorists plotted the violence taking advantage of the ST demand while hoping that Nagas will join them.

However, Nagas understand their motive and distanced themselves from the crisis as the rally of May 3 turned violent in Kuki dominated districts.

Subsequently, Kuki narco-terrorists tried to paint communal colours to the conflict through propaganda of majority Hindu vs minority Christian with the hope of gaining international support.

However, the attempt also failed to garner support as the global community realised the truth.

Today, the whole world is beginning to realise that the conflict was engineered in response to the state government's crackdown against illegal immigration, illegal poppy cultivation and encroachment in reserved and protected forest areas.

More than six months have passed since the crisis unfolded in May.

As the Myanmarese Kukis continue to enter into the state through the porous Indo-Myanmar border and settle here, the state is witnessing an unnatural growth of Kuki population, which could only be possible if a woman gives birth to 3 or 4 babies for every three months if they continue to reject the illegal immigration angle.

As a result, the state is witnessing a dangerous demographic shift as the illegal immigrant Kukis overtake population of the native Kukis thereby posing a serious threat to the integrity, unity and identity of the state, the statement said.

COCOMI further said that these immigrants formed several illegal armed terror organisations and instigated the native Kukis to act against the integrity of the state with the sole objective to bring chaos in the social fabric and disintegrate the state.

Today, the tenor activities of these illegal immigrants and their plan for disintegrating the state is in its peak and this require an immediate and stern response from the government to uphold the territory and identity of the state..

After a brief lull, the situation in the state got tense once again after Kuki narco-terrorists assassinated SDPO Chingtham Anandkumar while overseeing a ground clearing work for constructing a Helipad in Moreh and subsequent abduction of two students and coordinated armed attacks on foothill villages and farmers working in the field.

Considering the fresh rounds of attacks, it is becoming more and more concern if the Central government would be able to control the Kuki militants, it stated.

Regarding the snatching of arms from state security forces, the COCOMI statement said that several arms and ammunition were surrendered to the government before May 27.Only if the Kuki militants delayed their attack on May 27, most of the snatched arms and ammunition might have been submitted to the government.

However, following the May 27 attack, the Meetei society lost its trust in the government and it prevented from surrendering the arms as the public feared that the government would not be successful in defending them in case of another attack, which only came true.

Unless the Central and state governments take up immediate and effective measures to protect the common people from the persistent attacks of Kuki militants, the little faith the public have on the government might also get ost forever, COCOMI said.

Questioning BJP and its government's stand on the association with the 10 Kuki MLAs, COCOMI demanded the government to remove the two ministers from their posts for providing misleading information to the Prime Minister and Union home minister, as well as their involvement in leading the plan for separate administration.

COCOMl also demanded the government to take up appropriate actions against the Kuki MLAs for hatching plan to disintegrate the state.

COCOMI also reacted against the statement of BJP Manipur Pradesh president, who denied BJP MLAs demanding separate administration, and termed the denial as a clear example of putting the party over the state and its territory.

Maintaining that Kuki dominated hill districts of the state have been in a state of lawlessness for decades, the COCOMI statement demanded immediate steps to enforce rule of law in those districts to bring everlasting peace in the state.
