Imphal, November 08 2023:
Maintaining that without any money in their possession it would not be possible for them to resettle in their respective homes, displaced Meiteis of Moreh have appealed to the state government to provide them the compensation which the government has promised before they resettle in their respective homes in Moreh town.
The displaced Meiteis of Moreh whose houses were burnt down by armed Kuki narco terrorists on May 3 last and are taking shelter in relief camps in Imphal informed reporters on Wednesday that it is their desire to resettle in the respective homes in Moreh.
However, entering Moreh penniless would be useless as they have to build new houses.
Therefore, the state government should ensure that the compensation which it had promised to provide, is available before they (displaced people) are allowed to resettle in Moreh.
They also appealed to the state govern ment to ensure safe return to their respective homes in Moreh town at the earliest.
