No let up in offensives from well armed Kuki militants
Koutruk, Senjam Chirang come under heavy firing

Imphal, November 08 2023:
Kuki militants launched a fierce attack at Koutruk and Senjam Chirang located in the periphery of Kangpokpi and Imphal West district today.
Reportedly, the Kuki militants, apart from firing several rounds, also bombarded the two Meetei villages using sophisticated weapons from the hilltop of Haraothel.
There is no report of any injury on the side of Meitei villagers during the daylong attack by Kuki militants.
It is reported that the attack by Kuki militants started from around 5 in the morning.
The village volunteers who were guarding the villages also retaliated using license guns and it resulted in a heated exchange of fire between the two sides.
Soon after, the State and Central forces deployed in the area joined the gunfight to protect the villagers.
The exchange of fire continued till 10.30 am (approx) but the situation remained tense even after the gunfight stopped.
After a brief pause, the Kuki militants fired bombs and several rounds of bullets toward the same Meetei villages again at around 3 pm resulting in another round of gunfight.
The gunfight lasted for about an hour.
Sources said that there might be some injuries on the side of Kuki militants.
It is said that security personnel are on high alert and taking extra security measures to prevent attack by Kuki militants.
Villagers of the two villages have been evacuated to safer locations.
