Imphal, February 20 2022:
KYVO (Kwasiphai) scored a 2-1 win over KRFC (Saganga) as Muvanlai Athletics (Kangpokpi) and WAFA (Wangoi) settled for a 2-2 draw in Sunday's fixtures of the 63rd CC Meet at Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.
Surjakanta struck both goals of KYVO in their triumph against KRFC in a Group E match.
The Kwasiphai side made good use of their dominance in the early stages to gain the upper hand.
It was Surjakanta who capitalised on a well timed pass in a goalmouth tussle to put his team in front in the 15th minute as KYVO built on their first-period lead to make further inroads after-break.
Their relentless efforts upfront were rewarded in the 70th minute when Surjakanta broke through to slot the ball into the back of the net.
His second goal put KYVO firmly in control.
In the ensuing contest, KRFC managed to reduce the deficit through Joel Kom but his goal in the 7th minute of stoppage time was too late for the Sagang side.
In the day's other Group E meeting, Muvanlai Athletics came from behind to take a 2-1 lead, only to be denied a win after WAFA scored a second-half equaliser.
After a barren first half, WAFA were ahead in the 51st minute when H Sanuttelly-son buried the ball into the empty net.
However, Muvanlai responded immediately and got back on level terms courtesy of a 52nd-strike by Mangtinsei.
The Kangpokpi squad then overturned the scoreline in the space of four minutes with Ngammingou on target.
WAFA fought hard and clawed their way back into the game after Kishan Naorem made it 2-2 in the 65th minute.
In the remaining minutes of exchanges, the two teams were unable to break the deadlock and had to split points at the end of the game.
