Imphal, February 20 2022:
KYVO, Kwasiphai opened group stage (E) winning account in the ongoing 63rd Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament with a 2-1 beating of KRFC, Sagang at Artificial Turf, Lamlong Thongkhong today.
Having lost the opening match 2-3 to LYCC and played out a 1-1 draw with Muvanlai Athletics in the previous match, KYVO rode on a goal each side of the break by Surjakanta to earn a 2-1 win.
KYVO went ahead after 15 minutes when striker Surjakanta capitalised on a chance.
The Sagang team too had some clear cut chances but their efforts either went wide or were parried away by the Kwasiphai team custodian.

With a bid to add more, KYVO too created a flurry of chances but failed to crack the already upped defence line of KRFC until Surjakanta stamped his authority to tap in another to double the advantage in the 70th minute.
KRFC kept struggling to pull back a goal in the remainder of the game and finally had it 7 minutes into the added time via Joel Kom to make it 1-2 .
Despite the loss, KRFC are still atop Group E table courtesy wins in two opening matches while Muvanlai Athletics (MA), Kangpokpi are second with a win and two draws including today's 2-2 with WAFA, Wangoi later in the day.
Both MA and WAFA, Wangoi got off to a cautious start and entered into the break goalless with neither side able to convert their chances.
After the barren first half, H Sanuttellyson added spark to the game by scoring in the 51st minute to give the Wangoi outfit the headway only to see Mangtinsei equalise the very next minute for MA.
The parity was short lived with Ngamminlegou turning the table around in MA's favour in the 56th minute but the WAFA rallied back and came to level terms when Kishan Naorem banged in the equaliser in the 65th minute.
The game was yet again an anyone's game after the leveller and two sides had to toiled hard in search of the winner but ended up sharing a point each.
