Imphal, February 20 2022:
Naga Hoho, an apex body of Naga tribes based in Nagaland, has strongly condemned the threat made to NPF Youth president of Mao Assembly Constituency on February 18 night by armed miscreants at Tobufii Village in Senapati district.
A release by its media cell stated that such diabolic tactics have no place in election related matters basing on the fact that the Nagas are striving for unity among various sections of society vis-a-vis political settlement which is the larger issue for the Nagas.
"In a democratic state, every individual has the right to choose and exercise his/her franchise according to one's will.
It would be detrimental to the society, if any intending candidates and supporters try to win over the electors by sheer use of force in the form of intimidation through guns and muzzle power," said the release.
The Naga body said Nagas must vote and elect right candidates who can represent the voice of the people and bring significant development for the people.
The electors must be given space to have free choices and decide what is best for the people, it said.
The Naga Hoho also fervently appealed to all the Naga people and the national workers to abstain from creating unwanted situations in all Naga areas of Manipur during the ensuing Manipur Legislative Assembly Elections 2022 in the best interest of its citizens.
