Union minister of ports, shipping and waterways Sarbananda Sonowal and Union minister for environment, forest & climate change Bhupender Yadav on Sunday campaigned for the Assembly Election in Wabagai and Thanga assembly constituencies.
The Union ministers attended the flag hoisting ceremony of BJP candidate from Wabagai AC Dr Usham Deben Singh held at Keirak Usham Leikai and interacted with the people of Thanga AC while campaigning for BJP candidate T Robindro Singh.
Chief minister N Biren, BJP Manipur Pradesh state president A Sharda, Union minister of state for social justice and empowerment Pratima Bhoumik, Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba, BJP's Manipur in-charge Sambit Patra, BJP candidate from Kakching AC Y Surchandra and other leaders also attended the programmes.
Addressing the gathering, Union minister Sarbananda said that today, peace and progress rules supreme in the state due to BJP.
He praised CM N Biren for his dedication and leadership in taking Manipur to the path of progress and urged the people to support and bring back the BJP government in the state.
Congress is corrupted and they have only increased conflict everywhere, the party only creates fight among brothers contrary to the Biren BJP government which has strengthen the bond among the hills and valley people with visionary schemes and public outreach programmes, he claimed.
"In the last seven years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts have made India proud.
From Arunachal Pradesh to Gujarat and from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, PM Modi's initiatives for citizens have enabled India to become a world leader.
Hence, everyone is realising the wave of' Parivartan'.
Today, from tech to youth, women to 'Divyangs', farmers and students, ST/SC, Dalits, all have benefited.
India is waking up like never before and becoming 'Aatmanirbhar' .
I call upon all to join this journey," the Union minister exhorted.
Sonawal continued that Manipur is a strong and sports powerhouse of India.
"With your language, culture, role of women, sportspersons, Manipur can be the jewel of the world.
Only BJP can ensure that peace remains in Manipur.
During Congress time, there were bandhs and curfews for around 100 days in a year," he said.
In the last five years Manipur has grown like never before.
The world is witnessing Manipur coming out of darkness and shinning in so many fields.
Today, there are big roads, modern infrastructure and peace.
The sporting prowess of Manipur is getting worldwide recognition, he said.
In his address, Bhupender Yadav pointed out that under PM Modi many initiatives have been made in the state including in the held of culture, roadways connectivity, sports, welfare of youth, etc.
The BJP manifesto focuses on various schemes for the welfare of women, sportspersons, students, senior citizens and youth.
To ensure implementation of these schemes will be the focus of BJP, he emphasised.
Meanwhile, CM Biren asserted that after the ensuing election, the party will get absolute majority to form the next government.
He had enough of coalition government, it creates many problems in the governance.
Last five years have gone just in addressing the daily changing leaders of alliance partners, he decried.
Saying that the statement made by a politician from Meghalaya that BJP does not respect coalition ethics is laughable, N Biren claimed that finance portfolio in the BJP led coalition government was in the hands of NPP and the minister holding it was causing anger amongst the ministers and MLAs within the government for cutting percentage from various schemes.
He opined that if any government carries out good governance, then it should be appreciated.
Criticising Congress, he pointed out that lawlessness that was prevailing in the state under their governance has completely gone.
People now can safely rest in their houses without any fear.
All these have happened due to the changes brought in by the BJP led government, he added.
