AR inaugurates rainwater harvesting tank

Noney, February 20 2022:
Noney Battalion Assam Rifles of 22 Sector/IGAR (East) constructed a Rain Water Harvesting Tank at Waphong village in Kangpokpi district under the Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme Projects for the financial year 2021-22 and handed over the project to the village authority on Saturday.
The village authority had approached the unit for construction of a Water Storage facility to meet the water requirement as the people of Waphong village have been facing water scarcity especially in non-monsoon season.
In response, an initiative was taken up to improve the quality of life in the remote village and eliminate the problems faced by the villagers by constructing a Water Harvesting Tank for provision of sufficient water to the villagers for their daily domestic needs.
The welfare project will strengthen the confidence of the villagers in the Security Force and will enhance mutual trust between them and will also help in overall improvement of the image of the Assam Rifles.
During the event of handing over the Water Harvesting Tank all village authorities of Waphong village were present and adequate COVID-19 protection measures were followed.
